Hey gang! Just got back from the Dr’s and I’ll be running off to teach and then take my class. Figured you would all like to know what he had to say. Basically, it comes down to this. There isn’t anything immediate we need to do for my Thyroiditis. Eventually (we don’t know when) my Thyroid will go away because of the antibodies attacking it. As it gets diminished we will up my thyroid meds to compensate for it. When it’s gone there is a good possibility I will develop nodules. Once that happens I’ll probably ask for surgery because it’s possible the nodules will become cancerous.

The Dr. does not believe that my fatigue and weight gain are being caused by the problem with the Thyroid. He has recommended that I have several other tests done by my regular Dr and is dictating him a letter to make sure it gets done correctly.

I have decided to do it Joe’s way with the food. I’ve cut down what I’m eating seriously. Chicken, eggs, turkey, yogurt, oatmeal, cottage cheese, skim milk, vegetables and fruit are the only things he currently wants me to stick to. He says when I reach 165 he’ll add more foods to the list. But he wants me to stay away from bread and pasta period. I’ve been eating this way since last Wednesday. Today the scale said 174. That’s a 4lb drop from Wednesday. We’ll see if it keeps holding and lowering it. It’s not an easy “diet” but if that’s what it takes…that’s what I’ll do. ๐Ÿ™‚
