Hi all. Well I have news for ya about the headaches. I went to the Neurologist today with Tat. (She’s so good to me :grins:) He was a nice guy. Answered all our questions and had some ideas about how to help me. Unfortunately I don’t really like his answer :chuckles: But we are going to give it a try.<\/p>\n
Here’s the watered down version: He would like me to get off the Effexor. Thursday I can start taking a different antidepressant that has been used for helping Migraines in the past. This should kick in in about two to three weeks. It’s a mild sedative and may cause me to crave some sweets. If I do well on it…I stick with it. If not…there is a sister drug we can try. However….<\/p>\n
In order to stop the cycle I have been perpetuating forever due to all the different meds I’ve been trying to use to help the pain….I have to stop having anything with caffeine in it AND I have to stay off of any all pain medication (aspirin, imitrex, Tylenol, etc) for about a month. I am allowed the drug of my choice twice a week….but he’d really like me to go cold turkey. That’s right…this means I will be in quite a bit of pain and I have to deal with it. Tat and Daddy assure me it’s not going to be quite as bad as I think, but I’m still concerned.<\/p>\n
What I’ll probably end up doing is taking something on the nights of my karate class so I can get through them, and deal the rest of the time. Tat assures me that she’d rather have me a little useless for 2 weeks or so, then several months while we try and test meds. I’m with her…I just don’t like the way we have to go about it. \ud83d\ude42 I’ll also be going in for a Cat Scan and checking into the pain in my neck. Maybe even a few massages!<\/p>\n
