Well it’s the 22nd and today was the day that Guardians: Awakened went to the professional editor. I’m excited and horrified at the same time. I have already gotten an email back from her though and she’s given me some encouragement about the book and told me that it’s going well and not to worry. ๐ So that is good news.
In the mean time, I’m prepping to get the book on Amazon for both Kindle and Print. I use Scrivener, so making a kindle file (.mobi) is trivial. Deciding how it should look is another matter. Same for the print version.
My choices are…do it myself – I got two Udemy.com classes (one on publishing for kindle and one for publishing in create space) that I can use to set myself up. Or…I have a girl I found who does very affordable formatting for Print that I’m considering having do the Print version. There are lots of youtube videos that will tell you how to format for both…but I just don’t want to get too antsy for a release that I do a bad job of formatting. Choices choices.
I also have to get the Print version of the cover. I’m waiting to hear back from the person who did my Kindle cover (Starla Hutchton – she’s amazing). I still have plenty of time for her to make a cover, I’m just getting…antsy…again and wanting to get it done. Especially since I have the money set aside for it.
I’ve also been doing all this reading on what works best when marketing your book and the consensus seems to be….be sociable on social media. Sounds easy enough…if you can think of interesting things to talk about that may lead people to be interested in your work. So I’m already going over in my head how many people might actually buy the book or not. LOL….and all the ones who will wait until I give it away for free.
I’m torn on the concept of ‘free’. I want people to enjoy the book so I am happy for any one who wants to read it…but I also spent a lot of time and a small amount of money to get it written and out so part of me thinks that I would like a little exchange for the time, skills and talent that went into making Guardians.
And THEN there is prepping for the next book. Thinking about short stories I can write on wattpad that might garner interest in my work, a series I thought of doing while waiting for my beta readers to get back to me, doing audio narration, my podcast at talechasing, my posts here and at kimikoalexandre.com, and now my new idea to do a meditation podcast. Do you think I could come up with enough to do? At least I’ll be busy right? ๐
So what do you think about all that…?
Oh! And the way it looks we are still set for a February delivery date of Guardians: Awakened. I hope to have it in print form for sale in Feb too.
